A Glance At Exactly What Makes A Terrific Espresso Plus The Machines That Make It

By: Frank Froggatt

If you're a coffee lover like me then that is plenty good enough reason to get an espresso machine. If you are someone like me you'll save lots of cash by having the ability to make your own personal mug of espresso at home as opposed to forking out money at costly coffee shops and restaurants. I would even venture a guess how the variation in taste involving yours and those prepared within the coffee stores will be very much the same.

There are some matters which are required to grasp before running off to the appliance depot to purchase one though so peruse on. If you wish to have the absolute most excellent tasting espresso that you can out of your home machine, then you need to be aware that there is a bit more to it than only pressing burning water through your coffee. If done incorrectly, the coffee is just as well made from the generic coffee pot. In order to get that perfect cup that has no bitter taste to it, you need to extract the flavor from the beans but leave the oils behind. A good quality espresso machine will certainly get this right and reward you with that shot of flavor you have come to like and enjoy.

Having a frothing wand on your espresso machine is most likely the finest accessory you can have for it. With this unit you have the ability to foam up your milk like the pros do for those delicious cappuccino drinks.. Some espresso machines also have the ability to grind its own fresh coffee, so getting the appropriate grind for your espresso becomes a breeze.

For those folks that need and want it all, there is what is known as the all in one espresso machine. You can choose whether you want to simply drink coffee or espresso with these machines. The majority of these models are programmable so you can set them to start making the coffee at any given time of the day or night. For the people who really don't love to take the time or wait for their coffee to brew in the morning and like to have it ready when they wake up, this is the perfect and ideal option. Simply program it and turn it on and it will do everything for you. You only have to do one or two small things and that is to pour and enjoy.

There are other options out there as well for those who are not into the full automation aspect of espresso. While Percolators seem to have been around forever, there are some excellent alternatives to these love coffee pots that make more than a half decent Espresso coffee. One of the better quality stovetop Espresso makers is the Moka pot which also comes in an electric plug-in version. In this setup you have a pot with two separated chambers, one for water, and one for coffee. These chambers are separated by a filter in the middle.

This system is basic in that when heat is applied to the bottom compartment via the stovetop, the steam that it creates is forced up through the coffee grounds and then up into the top compartment where the espresso comes into being. While these machines do make a decent cup of espresso, the cup that you get from a machine that is made especially for the job will make a much better one.
As an alternative to using the Moka pot, there is also what is known as a French press. There is nothing more to using this machine than having the ability to boil water and dump it out over coffee. All that need to be done after that is to let it brew for a few minutes and then pull a lever. While the french press method might be easy and fast to use as well as easy to clean up, it does not in my opinion make a cup of espresso that is of great quality. This is because the coffee grounds sit in the water for too long, which can create a rather bitter taste to the coffee.

I hope you can see now why it is important to know a little bit about espresso before making a decision on a machine. Take warning though as once you have turned to making your own, you will not want to go back to the way it was before. You will be hopelessly addicted.

Cheers!
